Can I play for the BlueSox?

As long as you meet the requirements of playing in the Prospect League, we would love to hear from you. Those requirements can be found below or at ProspectLeague.com. You can contact us by e-mailing your contact information and a little bit about yourself (what college you attend, what position you play, where you are from, etc.) to FrontOffice@ButlerBlueSox.net.

Who plays for the BlueSox?

The BlueSox are college baseball players from all over the country. In order to qualify players must have one year experience at a college or university and have at least one year of eligibility remaining. Many college players use summer leagues as a time to improve specific aspects of their game.

Do the same players come back each summer?

Sometimes. Players are permitted to play on the same team during multiple summers or on a different team in the League. Some players prefer to move to different leagues to get a wider range of experience.

What league do the BlueSox play in?

The BlueSox are members of the Prospect League, one of the best wooden-bat summer leagues in the country. You can read more about it at ProspectLeague.com.

Where do the players live during the season?

Each player lives with a local host family that provides housing for their player (or players). Each host family receives complimentary season tickets and a few other benefits. If you are interested in being a host family, email us at FrontOffice@ButlerBlueSox.net.

Are the players paid?

No. In order for players to maintain their NCAA eligibility players do not receive payment for playing.

How can I buy tickets? How much do they cost?

Tickets are $6 to $8. They can be purchased through phone, email, online, or at the ballpark on game days, although we recommended reserving them ahead of time to guarantee you will get a seat. You can find info about buying tickets on our tickets page.

When does the ticket office open?

One hour before game time (which is 5:35pm). On nights when a large crowd is expected, it may open a few minutes early.

Are seats reserved?

Box seats are individually reserved. Field level and general admission are first-come first-serve. The earlier you arrive at the ballpark, the better the chance of getting the seats you want. We will reserve rows for large groups.

Can I rent a suite?

Yes, they can be reserved by contacting Autin in our front office at 724.355.4889 or emailing Tickets@ButlerBlueSox.net.

How many games are played?

Each team plays 60 regular season games (30 home and 30 away) from the final week in May through the second week in August. Most teams play six days per week and are off Mondays. Playoffs and a championship game are held in the days immediately following the regular season. You can find the full schedule on our schedule page.

How long are games?

All games are nine innings and follow NCAA baseball rules. Time-wise, most are around two-and-a-half hours. In the event of a double header, both games are usually seven innings each.

Where are home games?

The BlueSox play their 30 home games at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler, which was formerly known as Pullman Park. For more on the park and directions see our Kelly Automotive Park page.

Where is parking?

There is room to park behind the outfield fence and around the stadium. On fireworks nights, the area behind right and center field will be blocked off so that your vehicle won't suffer any damage (like being blown up). Handicapped spaces are located right out front and on the right side of the stadium.

Where are concessions located? Can I bring food into the park?

The concession stand is located on the main concourse of the park. There are also drinks available on the second level. It is stadium policy that no outside food is permitted without prior permission. The Stadium Authority operates all concessions sold at the ballpark.

Can my child participate in between-the-inning activities?

Yes! On game days a staff member will be located at the information desk on the second level of the park and will help you to sign up. Participants are selected on a first come, first serve basis and must be accompanied by an adult.

Can my band play at a BlueSox game?

If we have a date available, we would love to have you. Email us at FrontOffice@ButlerBlueSox.net for more information.

I can't make it to the ballpark, can I follow the team from home?

Yes, almost every game is broadcast in one form or another. All home games will be covered on Ustream. Most teams in the League also have radio broadcasts. A full list of broadcasts can be found on our schedule page; the broadcast information for that night's game will also appear on our home page each day.
